Stand by survivors of modern slavery

On Wednesday 18 October, The Salvation Army marked Anti-Slavery Day at a time when it is estimated that there are 122,000 people being exploited here in the UK and 50 million globally.

In recent months, the UK Government has passed the Illegal Migration Act which severely narrows the support available for people who have experienced such exploitation.

It is more important now than ever that we as a society remain vigilant to the signs of modern slavery often present all around us.

Anti-Slavery Day comes just once a year, will you take a moment and ask your MP to stand by survivors of modern slavery all year round?

The more awareness we raise on how to spot the signs – and the greater the reach from MPs - could be the thing that saves someone from an exploitative situation.
